Man City are overwhelming 1/25 favourites
Man City travel to the Faroe Islands tonight to face EB/Streymur in a UEFA Cup Qualifier on a pitch with a seaside view and Paddy Power make them overwhelming 1/25 favourites to triumph.
It’s not much of a surprise really when you consider that since 1994, 25 teams from the country have tried to get through the first UEFA Cup Qualifying Round and only one of them – B36 Torshavn, against Icelandic team IBV Vestmannaeyjar in 2005-06 – have progressed.
Eight of the last ten teams to have negotiated the first qualifying round have lost the first leg but the last team to avoid defeat in their home tie was indeed EB/Streymur (against MyPa last season) perhaps because of the uniqueness of the stadium.
Manchester City went through the UEFA Cup Qualifying Round in 2003-04, on that occasion encountering TNS of Wales. City won the home leg 5-0 then finished the job by winning 2-0 away.
But odds of 9/1 are available on a draw and 25/1 on an EB/Streymur win, so if you fancy an unbelievable upset, click here for all the best prices.
