German Grand Prix special markets
Bookmakers Sky Bet offer odds of 5/1 on Kimi Raikkonen qualifying on pole but failing to win the German Grand Prix.
The odds are very generous when you consider that exactly that occurred the last two times the reigning world champion competed at Hockenheim and he has only finished one of his previous six races there – in third – retiring from the other five.
It’s not all bad for Raikkonen though as he chases his seventh consecutive Grand Prix fastest lap which will see him level the record set by Alberto Ascari way back in 1953. The best price available on that is 5/4 at Bet 365 and Paddy Power.
While Chickendinner expects Felipe Massa to reign supreme at Hockenheim, if you fancy putting a smaller amount on an outsider then Nick Heidfeld is your man. He’s never won a Grand Prix before but a German driver has won the race in four of the last six years and twice over that period the race winner has been driving a BMW-powered car.
